With a total length of 9,273 meters and main bridge of 1,615 meters, Nanjing Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge is the shared passage over Yangtze River for Beijing-Shanghai high speed railways and Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu Railways, double-track downstream for the former and double-track upstream for the latter, and urban monorail on both sides. The bridge is the controlling project for Beijing-Shanghai high speed railways.

The N-shaped Baltimore trusses, with height of 16.0 meters and panel length of 12.0 meters, are at both ends of the steel arch truss to the extent of 240 meters, and the vertical member is normal to the longitudinal slope of the track. The double main spans of 336 meters each are steel truss arch continuous girders, arch rise 84.2 meters, ratio of rise to span approximately 1/4, truss height at arch crown 12 meters, and total height from toe to crown 96.2 meters. The Baltimore truss is connected to arch truss by stiffening chords and height-changed trusses. The railway deck is on the lower chord of Baltimore truss and the binding rod of arch truss, and about 28 meters high from the arch toe. Four panels of 15 meters each are within 60 meters of both sides of the three main piers, and all the other panels are 12 meters long. As there is vertical curve on the deck, the symmetry of arch span structure shall be considered. The two panels adjacent to No.7 pier are rectified to 15.72 meters and other panels are still 12 meters.
