The closure plan for main girder of Wajiatan Yellow River Grand Bridge in Qinghai province is approved by the experts on November 30, which laid a solid foundation for the formal closure of the whole bridge at the end of December.
Qinghai Wajiatan Yellow River Grand Bridge is the first cable-stayed bridge with long span and double towers in Qinghai province as well as the cable-stayed bridge with the longest span in northwest region. The length of the bridge is 1,000m. The main span is 560m. The bridge deck is 40m high above the water surface of Yellow River. The total weight of steel girder is approximately 17,000 tons. By the end of November, through unremitting efforts of all departments of the group, the erection of 90 segments (97 segments for the whole bridge) have been completed and the closure can be expected soon.
