Recently China Engineering Construction Welding Society published the list for 2013 National Excellent Welding Engineering Awards. CRBBG fabricated Erdos Suyang Highway No.2 Bridge was awarded the First Prize of this award, which was the 13th medal for this award CRBBG had won from 1987 till now.

Located in Dongsheng economic development zone in Inner Mongolia, the bridge is an arch tower cable-stayed bridge with the main bridge span of 120 meters. Steelwork for the bridge is mainly composed of two parts, steel arch tower and steel box girder of main bridge, which are both all-welded construction. The overall width of box girder of the main bridge is 51.6 meters, adopting separate structure. The steel tower is 68.75 meters high above the main pier, a slope of 15 degrees to the vertical direction of the bridge and a fish outline along the longitudinal direction thereof.

CRBBG applied advanced technologies and processes at home and broad in the construction of this bridge. A great deal of welding tests had been conducted at early stage according to relevant standards and specifications to ensure welding quality of the bridge. Meanwhile, CRBBG drew lessons from successful experience of cable-stayed bridge construction at home and abroad, prepared proper overall process design plan, applied advanced quality testing system for overall production process, and solved many problems during the construciton. By means of proper welding sequence as well as girth seam shrinkage control, the geometry of the completed bridge and the precision of length of box girders of the main bridge were secured.
