On November 5, the signing ceremony for contract of fabrication of steel box girders for the first super-long span suspended steel box girder bridge in Yunnan——Yunnan Longjiang Grand Bridge on Baoshan-Tengchong Expressway, was held at Tengchong County, Yunnan. The contract was solemnly signed by the Bridge Construction Headquarters Commander Chang Wen and CRBBG Secretary of Party Committee Hong Jun. CRBBG Deputy General Manager Wang Huiping was present at the ceremony.

Longjiang Grand Bridge is the first super-long span suspended steel box girder bridge in Yunnan as well as the whole-line control project of Baoshan-Tengchong Expressway. The overall length of the bridge is 2,470.58 meters. Double tower and single span are designed for this bridge, and the overall height of the tower of main bridge is 169.688 meters at Baoshan bank, and 129.703 meters at Tengchong bank. The bridge deck is 280 meters from the river surface, and the top of the highest tower is 470 meters from the river surface. With the main span of 1,196 meters long, side span 320 meters long and bridge deck 31.5 meters wide, the bridge is regarded as the first super-long span steel box girder suspension bridge in Yunnan at present, even 20 meters longer than Xiangxi Aizhai Bridge in Hunan, which has a main span of 1,176 meters and has been already completed and open to traffic. CRBBG will undertake the fabrication of 14,326 tons of steel box girders in the construction of this project.

The construction of the bridge is of great significance to perfect the main highway network in Yunnan, to construct China's overland passage to South Asia, to improve the transportation and communication situation in the whole province and western Yunnan, to complete the arterial highway network system, and to accelerate the development of tourism so of society and economy in western Yunnan.

It is reported that due to the complicated technologies, landscape value, complex terrain and geology at bridge site, and typical characteristics of high piers and super-long span in high seismic intensity mountain area, the "Research on Key Technologies of Kilometer Long Span Suspension Bridge in Meizoseismal Mountain Area in Yunnan" of Yunnan Longjiang Grand Bridge, has been listed one of the national sci-tech projects in the western transport construction.
