On March 15, based on the powerful technical strength, at one fling, CRBBG won the tender of fabrication and erection of steel tower and box girder for Ningbo 2nd Daxie Bridge with total weight about 15,000 ton and contract price about 220 million RMB. This is another large bridge contracted by CRBBG in Zhejiang Province after Zhoushan Taoyaomen Bay Bridge, Jintang Bridge, Xihoumen Bridge and Ningbo Wantou Bridge.

Ningbo 2nd Daxie Bridge, located over Huangzhi River that flows between Beilun District of Ningbo City and Daxie Island, to the north of Daxie Bridge, and connecting Daxie Island with National Highway No.329, is the second highway project of Daxie Island to the outside. The bridge is designed as a compound twin-tower cable stayed steel box girder bridge, total length 5.5 km, two-way four-lane, the maximum navigable clear height 35.3 m, which is the important traffic line of Daxie Island to the external.

The total length of main bridge is 808 m. The steel tower, sail-shaped tower as called, is composed of two longitudinal columns. The upper part is steel box and the intermediate and lower parts are concrete. All-welded connections are used between tower sections. The cross section of single box with three chambers is used for the main girder, the length of standard prefabricated segment is 10.5 m, and the maximum weight of segment is 362 ton. Totally 77 segments are used for the whole bridge.

The completion of Ningbo 2nd Daxie Bridge will better meet the increasing passenger transport demand during the modernization and urbanization construction of Daxie Island.
