The International Road Federation (IRF) has announced the winners of the 2022 IRF Global Road Achievement Awards, which is a worldwide competition to highlight the innovative, practical, creative, cost-saving and sustainable solutions the road industry provides to societies and economies. The Second Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge, which CRBBG participated, won the Design Prize of this Award.
The Second Wuhu Yangtze River Bridge is the largest highway bridge crossing the Yangtze River in Anhui Province, China, with a total length of 55.5km. Its main bridge, total 1,622 meters, is a double-tower full-floating cable-stayed bridge with four cable planes and with the main span of 806 meters. A series of innovative technologies are applied to this Bridge, such as the looping stayed cable anchorage system to solve the cracking problem of concrete in the cable-tower anchoring region, the diagonal damping constraint system and the split-limb tower structure to ensure the bridge's stability and vibration resistance. With six lanes on the deck, the bridge is designed to handle 50,000 motor vehicles passing every day.
Till now, Nanjing Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge, Ma'anshan Yangtze River Bridge, Xinshougang Bridge, Husutong Yangtze River Railway Bridge, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and Zangmu Yarlung Zangbo River Bridge, which CRBBG participated, have won many international and domestic awards.
