Taizhou Bridge Wins "Bridge Nobel" & CRBBG is Worthy of "National Team" for Bridging
On May 12, the openning ceremony for 2014 Outstanding Structural Engineering Award of IABSE (International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering) was grandly held, and CRBBG fabricated Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge won the top award in the international bridge engineering industry - 2014 Outstanding Structural Engineering Award of IABSE. Jiangsu Provincial Committee Standing Committee Member and Vice Governor Xu Ming, and IABSE Vice Chairman Gao Xuanwu attended the ceremony and unveiled the nameplate.
Taizhou Bridge was completed and open to traffic on November 25, 2012 with an overall length of 62,088m. It created five "World Firsts" including three-tower and two-span bridge type, sinking depth of the foundation, steel tower with longitudinal herringbone and transverse portal frame, erection length of W-shape main cable, and simultaneous and symmetrical lifting of steel box girders. In the bridge construction, CRBBG undertook the fabrication of 72 girder segments, totally 18,000 tons of steel box girder, and the herringbone middle tower of 13,800 tons, and the maximum lifting weight of single segment is up to 540 tons.
IABSE is an international construction association with the most member countries at present, and the Outstanding Structural Engineering Award is the top award acknowledged in the international bridge engineering industry at present, enjoying a high reputation of "Nobel" in bridge industry.
Since completed, Taizhou Bridge has been successively awarded 2013 Supreme Award for Structural Engineering Excellence presented by the Institution of Structural Engineers, 2014 FIDIC Excellent Engineering Project Award presented by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers, National First Prize for Excellent Welding Engineering, China Highway & Transportation Society Grand Prize, Hubei Provincial Science and Technology First Prize and Jiangsu Provincial Yangtze Cup Quality Project Award.
