A few days ago, along with the completion of welding of the last circumferential weld at the bridge site, the field welding of steel box girder segments for Yunman Longjiang Grand Bridge was completed two days ahead, which laid a solid foundation for the bridge to open to traffic on May 1, 2016 and was highly praised by the construction headquarters of the bridge.
Yunnan Longjiang Grand Bridge has totally 97 steel box girder segments with a total weight of 15,527 tons, and 96 circumferential welds are required for field welding at the bridge site. During the welding of circumferential welds for 39 days, CRBBG overcame the influence of severe weather such as heavy fog in the morning and high wind in the afternoon at the bridge site, took multiple corresponding counter measures, and accomplished the field welding task with guaranteed quality and quantity.
Yunnan Longjiang Grand Bridge is the first steel box girder suspension bridge with the super-long span in Yunnan. It will be the greatest suspension bridge in the mountain area in Asia when it is completed. With its high technologies, landscape value, complex terrain and geology at bridge site, and typical characteristics of high piers and super-long span in high seismic intensity mountain area, Longjiang Grand Bridge is also the landmark of Yunnan to create "Historical and cultural trip, natural landscape trip and international corridor trip".
On September 24, 2013, CRBBG won the bid for fabrication of 14,326 tons of steel box girders for this bridge. In March 2015, the mock-up of steel box girder was approved and the batch production started. On October 30, 2015, the bridge was closed.
