The mock-up and trial assembly of the steel box and steel truss composite girder for the main cable-stayed bridge of Dongting Lake Grand Bridge for the West Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi railway in central China passed the review in Yangzhou company on February 9.

It is reported that the West Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi railway in central China is a new strategic transport corridor for the "North-to-South coal transport" in China by connecting the Golden Delta area of energy sources in Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Gansu and Ningxia with the Central China of Hunan, Hubei and Jiangxi. The Dongting Lake Grand Bridge is the key control project for the whole line of Inner Mongolia-Jiangxi railways in central China. The bridge has an overall length of 10,444.66m. The main bridge, a three-tower steel box and steel truss composite girder cable-stayed bridge, has an overall length of 1,290.24m and a total weight of about 25,000 tons. It is a three-tower cable-stayed railway bridge with the greatest span in the world.
