Through the unremitting efforts by the staff of Longjiang bridge project department of CRBBG, the general assembly on site for Yunnan Longjiang Grand Bridge formally started on January 8.

Spanning the valley of Longchuan River, Yunnan Longjiang Grand Bridge is the key control project for Baoshan-Myitkyina (Myanmar) expressway, with two-way four-lane. It is a double tower single span steel box girder suspension bridge, with a distance of 280m from the bridge deck to the river surface. The length of main span is 1,196m and the total weight of steel girders is 14,326 tons.It will be the greatest suspension bridge in the mountain area in Asia when it is completed.

Due to the complicated technologies, landscape value, complex terrain and geology at bridge site, and typical characteristics of high piers and super-long span in high seismic intensity mountain area, the project of "Research on Key Technologies of Kilometer Long Span Suspension Bridge in Meizoseismal Mountain Area in Yunnan" of Yunnan Longjiang Grand Bridge, has been listed one of the national sci-tech projects in the western transport construction.
