The welding procedure qualification (WPQ) test and fabrication rules of steel box girders for Longjiang Bridge were approved by the experts on November 15. Commander of Longjiang Bridge Construction Headquaters Chang Wen, CRBBG Secretary of Party Committee Hong Jun, Deputy Secretary Hou Yinghui, and Professor of Southwest Jiaotong University Fan Wenli, were present at the review meeting.

The expert group listened to CRBBG's report and made a field inspection of the production of plate panel during the review. The successful convening of the review meeting indicated that the fabrication of steel box girders for Longjiang Bridge came into a new stage.

Spanning the valley of Longchuan River, Yunnan Longjiang Bridge is the key control project for Baoshan-Myitkyina (Myanmar) expressway, with two-way four-lane. It is a double tower single span steel box girder suspension bridge, with a distance of 280m from the bridge deck to the river surface and of 470m from the top of the highest cable bent tower to the river surface. The main span is 1196m long, and it will be the greatest suspension bridge in the mountain area in Asia.
