In the morning of August 5, along with the tightening of the last six bolts one by one by the worker of Yangzhou Company, the landmark of Huayuan Street northward extension project in Changzhou — Huayuanjie Bridge, fabricated by CRBBG, was closed with zero error and anticipated to be open to traffic in this September. Leaders from relevant departments of Changzhou and Yangzhou Company leaders attended the closing ceremony.
Huanyuanjie Bridge is the key part to connect Changzhou and Wujin in Huayuan Street northward extension project. The main bridge is a through steel truss bridge, with 39.5 meters width, 120 meters deck over the canal, 65.7 meters for both side spans, and 6,500 tons of total weight. Since the winning of tender for steel trusses of the bridge in September 2012, Yangzhou Company who undertook the fabrication carried out a labor competition of "100 days hard work to guarantee quality control of marking and drilling for Changzhou Huayuanjie Bridge", thus to advance the manufacturing of bridge with safety, quality and efficiency. In particular, at the stage of field erection, the truss girders should be rotated and spliced with each other only after the completion of assembly on both sides of the river in order to avoid influence to Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and national road G312, and as the weight of half span was up to more than 3,000 tons for south and north part respectively, workers in Yangzhou Company developed new process and adopted new construction method to realize the pioneering work of "Aerial Ballet" for the bridge — a 90 degree rotation operation for the two parts in succession on June 20 and 27, which was for the first time in bridge construction history of Changzhou even of China.
It is reported that Huayuanjie Bridge is the key project of Changzhou, which will get through the extended Huayuan Street and Jinling Road, and will be the third artery to link up Wujin and downtown Changzhou.
