At 5:00 a.m. on February 6, along with the last nail punched into the closure hole, Chongqing Dongshuimen Yangtze River Bridge, fabricated by CRBBG, was successfully closed. The closure of the bridge symbolizes the completion of the main structure of the bridge and that the construction period for auxiliary facilities starts.
Dongshuimen Yangtze River Bridge and Qiansimen Jialing River Bridge are together called "Two-River Bridge". The former is with double-tower structure and 445 meters main span. The No.6 line of tramway crosses over Yangtze River and Jialing River through the "heart" of the two bridges. Among the single cable plane cable-stayed bridges of double-purpose at present, Dongshuimeng Yangtze River Bridge certainly takes the first in the world for its span and tension of cable.
In September of 2011, CRBBG contracted the fabrication of 2.37 tons of steel truss girders for Chongqing Dongshuimen Yangtze River Bridge, which was another bridge over ten-thousand tonnage in the steel bridge market in Chongqing after the fabrication of Chongqing Chaotianmen Yangtze River Bridge. In the subsequent year, all staffs of Yangzhou Company, who took on the fabrication of truss girders, and of Project Headquarters, who took on field construction, overcome a series of difficulties including tight production period, fence over Yangtze River in the main fairway, and expropriation and clearance of land, satisfactorily completed the tasks of technical preparation and review before production, in-plant fabrication and field erection with the guarantee of safety, quality and time, and again handed in a satisfactory answer sheet to Chongqing people.
The completion of Dongshuimen Bridge will ease the traffic pressure of Chongqing Yangtze River Bridge and Caiyuanba Yangtze River Bridge, and become another rapid passage between Yuzhong Distric and Nan'an District. In particular, it takes only 4 minutes for the citizens driving from Shangxinjie to Dongshuimen, which saves at least 20 minutes than that at present.
