At midnight of July 19, the multi-tower cable-stayed bridge with the longest and widest main bridge in the world, JiaShao (Jiaxing-Shaoxing) Bridge, jointly constructed by CRBBG, was officially completed and open to traffic. The operation of the bridge greatly shortens the driving time from Shanghai to Shaoxing as well as south and middle area of Zhejiang province, which is of great significance for the economic integration and adjustment and upgrading of industrial structure of Yangtze River delta area.
The overall length of the main bridge of JiaShao Bridge is 10.1 km, with 16 km approach span to south bank and 43.3 km to north bank, which together constitute JiaShao Yangtze River Passage. JiaShao Yangtze River Passage is a part of Shenyang-Haikou Expressway, which is the "One longitudinal line" in "7918 Network" of the National Expressway Network Plan, and is ranked as "Double-Key Project" by the Ministry of Communications and Transportations and Zhejiang Provincial Department of Communications at the beginning of construction. The whole line is constructed under the standard of eight-lane expressway. In which, the design speed of both approaches is 120 km/h and of main bridge is 100 km/h, and the navigation capacity is 3,000 tons. As the key project in JiaShao Yangtze River Passage, JiaShao Bridge is the second bay bridge in Hangzhouwan Bay after Hangzhouwan Bay Bridge, as well as the first eight-lane bridge over river in the world at present.
The construction of JiaShao Bridge formally started in December 2008, the main project was generally carried out in 2009, and the bridge was completed and open to traffic in July 2013, totally lasting four and a half years from beginning to end.
